Ellipticals For Sale

The best exercise to lose weight fast is the type which incorporates total body workouts. Ellipitical machines are a very popular alternative for those who do not wish to use treadmills. You can purchase elliptical machines for sale from various online retailers and from local brick and mortar sporting good stores such as Dick’s sporting goods. Keep in mind that there are many different brands you can choose from including True, Proform, Schwinn, and Lifecycle. People enjoy using elliptical as an excellent low impact exercise. When you use an elliptical trainer, you do not place as much stress on your joints compared to running or jogging exercises. People who run outdoors can place a tremendous amount of stress on their bodies from the constant pounding of feet on asphalt and concrete surfaces.

You can often find cheap ellipticals for sale in the local classifieds, estate sales, and auction websites. If you decide to purchase a used machine, try to find a machine which is nearby. These machines are large and bulky, which can lead to issues with freight and shipping costs. If you want fancy features such as large LCD screens, and built in heart rate monitors you will have to spend more compared to purchasing cheap barebones elliptical trainers. If you are looking for something which is durable, and will last longer you may also want to consider purchasing a commercial elliptical trainer machine for your home gym. Commercial machines can handle a lot more usage, as they are built to be used on a continuous basis.

The circular motion of an elliptical machine is much easier for your body to handle if you suffer from knee problems. Elliptical trainers are also very versatile due to the fact that you can reverse your body motion, which allows you to work out different muscle groups in your body.

People also buy elliptical trainers if they do not live in an area which allows them to train outdoors on a year round basis. Some of the more popular areas which people buy indoor exercise equipment include snow belt states such as New York, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. This can also be a good option if you live in a rural area, and you do not have any gyms nearby. Purchasing a gym membership can also be a bad idea, if you do not think that you will be living in the same area for a reasonable amount of time. Keep in mind that many gyms may require at least a 12 month commitment, and can come with hefty cancellation fees written into the termination clause of the contract.

Elliptical Machines For Sale

Elliptical machines are very popular for people who do not like to use treadmills. People who prefer using elliptical machines are usually those who have issues with joint pain or shin splints. Elliptical machines offer excellent cardiovascular training without having to create a large amount of impact on your feet. This can also be a great alternative if you are flat footed, or have other orthotic issues which may be solvable using shoe inserts. The best exercise to lose weight is usually consistency. It does not matter as much what type of machine you use, as long as you are performing physical exercise on a routine basis. Elliptical machines are also much more flexible compared to treadmills because you can reverse the motion and work out a different group of target muscles.

Elliptical machines are also a great option for people who wish to exercise in the winter but live in snowy climates. Exercising outdoors in the wintertime can be a challenge due to the shortened hours with sunlight, along with facing the outside elements. If you want to exercise in the wintertime, purchasing your own equipment can be your best option.

If you don’t know what model elliptical trainer you want to buy, you should search online and read the reviews. This can help you make the right choice, when you are looking at elliptical machines for sale. Some of the more popular companies which make residential and commercial exercise machines include Proform , True, Schwinn, Body Champ, etc. If you purchase an elliptical trainer, be sure that you purchase lithium grease as well. It is important that you keep your machine well lubricated, so that it travels in a smooth motion without any sticking.

Cheap elliptical machines can be found used, if you look on websites such as Craigslist. The biggest issue with used machines however is that the warranty may not always be transferable to the new owner. Fortunately, many of the used machines (except for ones used in a commercial gym environment) are generally lightly used. The reason for this is because many people have good intentions when they buy exercise equipment, but they don’t necessarily always follow through with their action plans.

This means that you can find a machine at a deep discount compared to the new price, for machines which may have been used less than 20 or so times by the original elliptical machine owner. If you are willing to pay in cash, you may be able to purchase a used machine for even less.

True treadmills are a very popular which are used both in home and commercial gym environments. If you are looking for a treadmill, the True brand name is extremely popular. True makes a wide variety of different models for ellipticals, treadmills, and exercise bikes. Some of the best exercises to lose weight and increase your cardiovascular fitness level is to engage in a daily running or jogging routine. If you live in Northern climates you might that that it is extremely impractical to go running outdoors when the wind chill can make temperatures dip into the single digits during the Dec, Jan, and February months. Running outdoors can also be impractical due to the shorter days which people face during the winter months.

Depending on your lifestyle, you might find it to be more convenient to have your own in home exercise equipment instead of running to the gym. This can be true if you juggling a busy lifestyle, or if you do not live near a reasonably priced gym. Life Fitness Elliptical

The Life Fitness Elliptical line is by far the most popular line of fitness equipment found at gyms across the country.  You will see them in gyms like 24 Hour Fitness, Planet Fitness, Golds Gym and any number of smaller outlets.  The machines are built well and offer a lot of different pre-programmed routines to keep your workout fresh and keep you motivated.  Ellipticals in and of themselves are a great way to get a low impact workout while increasing heart conditioning and toning muscle.

Life fitness makes more than just the elliptical machine, they make treadmills and stair climbers as well, all this in an effort to diversify their product offering to different national chains around the nation.  Their machines are known for two things and both I can attest to personally.  First, they have stronger than normal motors, at least the commercial lines, and can carry big folks, like my husband (6’5″ – 280lbs), for miles at a time.  Second, they don’t offer much in the way of pre-programming.  Meaning the little workouts you can select on the machine are sparse and thin at best.

Let me give you some tips on how to make the most from the Lifetime Fitness Elliptical for your next trip to the gym.  First you should be fairly familiar with the use of an elliptical, if you are not then my suggestion is to just cruise along at a medium pace for 20 minutes to get the hang of it.  If you have used one before and know how to work the Life Fitness Elliptical then let me suggest that you don’t use the pre-programmed routines at all.

I am going to break the elliptical workout down into percentages.  10% warm up, 60% threshold, 20% above threshold, 10% cool down.  So lest define these terms; warm-up and cool down are self explanatory and should be done at a pace you could easily read a magazine at.  Threshold is not your max, not even close.  It is the point at which you can no longer process the information in your peripheral vision, so if you are not aware of the direction the person next to you is looking you are at the threshold.  If you can no longer carry on a conversation with someone, that is threshold.  The portion above threshold is where you are at a little below your max and you are very uncomfortable but not intolerable.

So take whatever time you have at the gym and break it down accordingly based on effort.

Elliptical Workout

A great elliptical workout is one that keeps your heart rate in the target zone and at the same time is focusing on toning the right parts of your body.  An elliptical workout can be a fun and stress free way to burn calories and zone out at the gym.  Because of the advantages the elliptical workout machine provides it has become one of the more popular machines across Americas fitness centers.

In order for any elliptical workout to be considered a success it needs to keep your heart rate in the fat burning zone because that is what the machine is designed to do.  If you are trying to condition your legs for a triathlon or a long run you need to get them on the treadmill.  So the elliptical machine is desinged to reduce impact to your joints and to get your body into a fat burning heart rate.  For most people you can subtract (your age * 2) from 200.  So if I were 35, my target heart rate would be 130 to be in a fat burning zone.

The secondary goal of any elliptical workout is to get your legs into a more toned condition and this is done by adding varying levels of resistance to the elliptical workout equipment and its settings.  You can work your upper thigh and glute by raising the incline to the maximum and this is what my husband does before he goes to the free weights.  It gets his blood flowing and he tries to target his ass.

I had a friend once in high school who just had a goal of keeping one of the elliptical machine metrics above 3,000.  It was the steps per minute measurement that is displayed as you run.  To give you some context I played varsity basketball in high school and could not keep that pace for more than a few minutes while she would keep that pace for her elliptical workout for over 30 minutes.

The largest advantage to the elliptical is the lower to zero impact on your joints.  This makes the machine a more popular choice among those coming back to the gym from a hiatus or for older men and women.  The problem is that all ladies of all ages like the machine because of the resistance workout it provides their lower body.  This is why there is always a line at my gym.

In any event the best elliptical workout plan is one that helps you stay on the machine for more than 30 minutes  and keeps your heart rate in the targeted area.

Epic Elliptical

Over the last few years more Epic elliptical machines have been moved into the market than any other specialty manufacture on the market. What is of concern for the larger retailers and mid size companies is that hardly any manufacturing parts are being sold for the Epic. When I first used an Epic elliptical machine when I was in college I quickly became aware, that one of the biggest sleeping giants in the industry was only a few steps away from market domination wherein a clean quality brand was being introduced to the consumer.

Epic brand machines are made by a larger company called Icon whose factory and engineer force numbers over 200 to make their products. In a nut shell these are the best made elliptical machines on the market today design wise. What put them in their current position of years of using inferior parts to still craft a machine that was user friendly and reliable. What ended up happening was that they made the proper connections over seas that allowed them to reduce cost on heavier parts like motors and rive belts which freed up allocated budget for things like the belt and frame. This allows the machine to function properly and last longer.

Topping just over $1 billion in sales annually Icon has become the largest fitness equipment maker in the world. When it comes to buying a consistant, quality machine Icon is clearly the best but where they lose market share is in their customer service. Several complaints has made the customer service issue a priority for the company but it takes more than acknowledgment to change the reputation. Because the Epic elliptical has become such an icon in the market (pun intended) the low price is an equal match for the lack of service. In order to combat that in the short term many retailers will pick up the slack from a customer service end.

What many people don’t know is that the Epic was designed initially to be sold just at Costco. So Icon took what it had learned from its Reebok line of products and used the Epic label to avoid showing like a Reebok machine. While the warranty is a little on the short end so is the price, its typically 30% less than its competition.
